IVF in Israel

IVF or in vitro fertilization is a technology for transferring a fertilized, developing embryo (oocyte) directly into the uterine cavity. The technique of in vitro fertilization, as a rule, is used for severe infertility, which can not be cured by conservative or surgical methods.

Today, IVF is carried out in many countries. Nevertheless, the greatest effectiveness of the procedure for in vitro fertilization can be provided only by Israeli medicine. For example, in this country, in 2002 alone, more than a million children were born through this procedure.

At present, indications for in vitro fertilization are:

  1. Endometriosis is a disease that provokes the pathology of the fallopian tubes, which can damage the ovaries and the ovum;
  2. Problems with cell maturation (ovulation), resulting in the egg losing vitality;
  3. Infections affecting the fallopian tubes and provoking the development of inflammatory processes or endometriosis (tubal infertility) ;
  4. Various disruptions in the endocrine system and associated hormonal diseases - hyperprolactinaemia, hypothyroidism;
  5. Infertility associated with autoimmune reactions;
  6. Male infertility, associated with a decrease in the volume of sperm and the number of spermatozoa;
  7. Psychological types of infertility.

Diagnosis, which is performed before in vitro fertilization:

For women:

  • An examination with a doctor specializing in reproductive medicine;
  • Urine and blood tests;
  • Analysis of the cervical smear ;
  • Examination of the uterus using a special optical system (hysteroscopy);
  • Breast mammography (appointed if the patient's age is more than forty years);
  • Ultrasound of small pelvis ;
  • Check the uterine tubes and uterus by X-ray diffraction using contrast.

For men:

  • Sperm analysis;
  • Blood tests.

It should be noted that after the course of diagnosis, the presence of a man in Israel becomes unnecessary, since his participation will be required only during the extraction of the egg and the preparation of spermatozoa.

Currently, in vitro fertilization can be carried out in one of two ways:

  • In the event that a weak mobility of spermatozoa or disturbances in their structure during IVF in Israel, the ISCI technique based on micromanipulation is applied. It involves the extraction of spermatozoa directly from the testicle or spermatic ducts and storing them in liquid nitrogen. After that, the most viable spermatozoa are inserted into the egg with the help of special microsurgical instruments;
  • The method of IVF with the help of insemination "in vitro", in which the egg is impregnated with a suspension of spermatozoa with a nutrient substrate. It is used only with good quality sperm.

It is worth noting that when conducting IVF in Israel, experts recommend an additional pre-implantation genetic diagnosis. It allows you to check the embryo for the presence of chromosomal diseases and gross developmental anomalies. In addition, this test will reveal the sex of the child.

To date, the largest medical centers that offer services to in-patients for in vitro fertilization include Rabin Medical Center, Ichilov Clinic, Asaf-ha-Rofe MC.

A rather important nuance is that in some cases people who came for IVF to Israel, after diagnosis, were informed that in their case it is possible to simply go through an effective course of infertility treatment that will allow the birth of a child without medical intervention. The reason for this is that medical institutions located on the territory of the CIS countries do not always have at their disposal modern equipment that will allow an accurate diagnosis.
