How to record sound at home

Sometimes it becomes necessary to record a sound on a computer. Someone needs to record a speech or another oral presentation, someone spoils with karaoke singing, and someone is just interested in hearing their own voice from outside or need to check how the microphone and headphones work. To perform all of the above manipulations, you need a special program, the sound recording in which you can make very quickly and simply. One of them is Audacity. It can easily be downloaded on the Internet absolutely free of charge, just following the instructions that will appear during the installation process. This program takes quite a bit of disk space, and even a child can use it.

After Audacity is set, you need to prepare to record the sound without any interference from the side. Therefore, you need to optimize the space around you and make sure that all kinds of noise is as small as possible. To do this, you need to close the doors tightly, and also disconnect all devices that are nearby, which can produce sounds that interfere with recording. Even the mouse is best kept at some distance from the microphone, as the clicks of its keys can also be recorded. To record sound was as clean as possible, try to refrain at this time from working with a mouse or do it as quietly as possible.

The next step is to connect the headset to the computer. On the front panel of your system unit you can see two round connectors of different colors. Connect the headphones to the green jack, and the microphone to red (or pink). You can, of course, do with a microphone built into the web camera, but, in this case, sound recording is unlikely to be of good quality. Therefore, the wired option is the most suitable one.

After the headset is connected and the program is open, do the following: Find the microphone icon under the buttons and place the slider next to this function in the middle. If this parameter is set to the maximum mode, the program will make a sound recording much worse, because along with the necessary audio track, external interference will be maintained. If you have speakers turned on, turn them off, otherwise you risk hearing your echo.

The next step is to create a record directly. To do this, click the "Record" button. It can be found in the top panel of the program Audacity, among other buttons. Usually it is either completely red or white, but with a red or brownish circle in the middle. Before speaking into the microphone, wait 2-3 seconds, and then you can say any phrase or patter, then stop recording sound. By pressing the "Stop" button. It is indicated by a brown or yellow square around its center.

The received record can be saved. To do this, go to the "File" menu and select the "Save project as" option. In the window that appears, you can select the file storage location, and then enter its name in the corresponding line (the file type does not need to be changed). Listen to what happened, you can, by opening the folder in which you saved the record. You can do this through both the regular browser and the program itself, by going to the "File" menu and selecting the "Open" option.

To listen to the recorded audio, you need to press a button with a green triangle-arrow in the middle. If what you have heard, suits you, you can proceed to your main entry. However, it is not necessary to save the record immediately, because you can listen to it even after you click on "Stop". If you are not satisfied with the soundtrack, you can delete it. This can be done by highlighting the oscillograms in the lower window and pressing the Delete key on the keyboard.

In addition, in this program you can not only record different sounds, but also edit them at your discretion. For example, you can change the pitch of the sound or its tempo. To do this, call the "Effects" menu and choose what you want to do with the recording in it. In the same option, you can get rid of cod, clicks, and various noises.
