Gynecomastia in adolescents - causes, symptoms, treatment

By the term "teenage gynecomastia" is meant a sharp increase in mammary glands due to thickening of adipose tissue. This physiological event does not require the intervention of physicians, however, sometimes it may be accompanied by pain, resulting in patients being prescribed special medications.

If gynecomastia in adolescents does not go away by itself within two years, then the adolescent needs to pass a special analysis that will reveal certain violations in sex hormones, or conduct an ultrasound examination and mammogram.

Types of gynecomastia

Gynecomastia in adolescents is divided into four types: physiological, idiopathic, symptomatic and false.

Physiological gynecomastia is associated with age-related changes in the adolescent organism, as a result of which the production of the female hormone estrogen is dramatically increased .

The causes of the occurrence of idiopathic gynecomastia in medicine are not known until now. This type of gynecomastia is only surgical, accounting for 50% of all diseases.

Symptomatic gynecomastia is a gynecomastia that develops as a result of other symptoms and diseases. For example, it can arise due to abnormal activity of the endocrine system, disruption of the testicles, kidney and liver problems. Sometimes symptomatic gynecomastia in adolescents arises as a side effect due to the use of dietary supplements.

False gynecomastia in adolescents is not associated with hormones and occurs as a result of obesity in fat children. Sometimes it is caused by benign or malignant tumors.

Gynecomastia - Causes

Gynecomastia can occur as a result of weak secretion of androgens or gametogenesis ( hypogonadism ). In this case, the teenager is prescribed such drugs, which contain male sex hormones: for example, "Omnadren", "Sustanon" or "Chorionic gonadotropin." Gonadotropin is administered intramuscularly every five days, Omnadren and Sustanon every twenty days, no more than one milliliter.

80% of the effectiveness can be achieved thanks to the drug "Androgel", which contains testosterone. It must be rubbed into the skin every day.

The course of reception of biologically active additives, applied simultaneously with medicamental treatment, makes 3-4 months. Good results are also observed when using bee perga - a substance containing a rich protein-vitamin complex and obtained from polyflora pollen from different plants.

Another cause of gynecomastia is a disruption of the thyroid gland. In this case, the patient is prescribed medicines and collections of herbs of soothing action. Particularly well-known are such preparations as tincture of valerian or motherwort. There are also many drugs in tablets that contain plant components.

Gynecomastia also arises from the use of narcotic substances. Hemp, opium and other drugs, which are traditionally considered "light" and even "curative", dramatically increase the mammary glands.

If there is gynecomastia in adolescents, the treatment that was described above should not be postponed.

The need for surgical intervention

Operative intervention is used in those cases when for half a year of using medicinal preparations the patient does not have the slightest improvement in health. In this operation, the patient under anesthesia and make on the chest a complex incision.

Usually, after surgery, small scars remain on the chest, which can be avoided by applying fat suction (lipox). In this procedure, the patient does not have any traces of the operation, and after it is finished, he is able to immediately go home.
